Welcome to the Mandola sample library for NI Kontakt!
The Mandola is the middle voice of the Mandolin family. From low to high we have the Mandocello, Mandola, and the very well known Mandolin. This instrument instrument has largely been ignored in the world of sample libraries.
I sampled a Mandola over 30 years ago into an Akai S1000 along with its other 2 siblings. But due to RAM limitations at that time, and certainly no option to stream samples directly from hard disk, it was very difficult to create any kind of detailed sample library of this unique instrument.
So, considering there are currently no detailed sample libraries of this beautiful instrument today, we wanted to revisit the Mandola by todays sampling standards.
The Mandola is not strongly associated with any specific genre of music (like bluegrass, folk music, world music etc ...). It is what it is - a full bodied middle voice which sounds beautiful when combined with the guitar or the mandolin or numerous other instruments.

Some Features of the Mandola sample library for Kontakt
- The Mandola was sampled with 3 velocity layers including round robins with down stroke and upstroke articulations.
- The scripted Tremolo engine is very poweerful. You can Increase the tempo when you move the selected Volume CC as well as adjust the Timing of the tremolo with varying degrees of randomness.
- You can create custom velocity maps to suite your projects needs.
- 2 A large array of ornaments were sampled - they include harmonics, slides, hammer-ons, and pull offs in both half and whole step intervals. The timing of each ornament can be adjusted to match your projects tempo.
- KSP scripting by Bo Clausen includes a Auto-Position fingering algorithm that inteligently fingers the notes on the neck of the Mandola in way an experienced Mandola player would finger them. You can also turn this feature off and take full manual control of which string you play on the virtual Mandola.

The full uncompressed size of this library is 1.3 GB. It has been Kontakt compressed for convenience of downloading and rapid loading into Kontakt.
This library requires NI KONTAKT version 6.7.1 or higher, and has been tested for compatibility in KONTAKT 6.
This library is NOT compatible with the free KONTAKT sample PLAYER, only the full retail KONTAKT SAMPLER. It will only run in demo mode for 15 minutes on the KONTAKT PLAYER.*
